Clan Forrester is an ancient Scottish clan of the Scottish Lowlands. The clan took their name from their prominent role as guardians of the royal forest around Edinburgh and Falkirk. The Forresters had significant holdings in Lothian and Stirlingshire. Membership is open and welcomed to any descendants of the various spellings, i.e., Corstorphine, Forrester, Forrister, Forester, Forrest, Forest, Foster, Forister, and others. Clan Forrester Society was founded in 1963 as the Forrester Genealogical Association, Inc. The organization was reactivated and named Clan Forrester Society, Inc. in 1968.
